PTA and FIA to Combat Illegal SIM Card Issuance in Punjab and Sindh

In a joint effort with FIA Cyber Crime Circles, PTA Zonal Offices located in Sukkur and Lahore successfully conducted raids on two mobile phone company franchises in Kandhkot and Sharaqpur Sharif.

The primary objective of these raids was to put a halt to the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards, a practice often associated with unlawful activities such as fraud and identity theft.

During these operations, a total of thirteen active SIM cards were confiscated, along with eight Biometric Verification System (BVS) devices that were being used for the illegal activation of SIM cards. As a result of these actions, two employees from the Kandhkot franchise have been named in the FIR (First Information Report), while the owner of the Sharqpur Sharif franchise has been taken into custody. The FIA is currently conducting investigations into these cases.

This proactive stance by the PTA reflects its commitment to eradicating the menace of unauthorized SIM card issuance.
