Governor Punjab, Mohammad Baligh Ur Rahman, has issued an ordinance under Article 128, Section (01) of the Constitution pertaining to government employees, introducing amendments.
The amendment ordinance specifically addresses government employees’ pensions. According to the ordinance, both the government and the government employee will contribute to the Contribution Pension Scheme. This means that contributions made to the pension fund for government employees will be invested until their retirement.
Upon retirement, the accumulated amount in the Pension Fund will be reinvested, and monthly pension payments to the government employee will be made from the returns on this investment.
The application of the Contributory Pension Scheme will be effective for government employees recruited on or after the date specified in the ordinance. This significant change aims to enhance the pension system for government employees in Punjab.
